1、Operating Principle

– Fuse: A fuse is a one time protective device that contains a metal wire or filament. When the current exceeds the fuse’s rated value, the wire melts due to heating, thus breaking the circuit. This means that once a fault occurs, the fuse must be replaced.

– Circuit Breaker: A circuit breaker is a resettable current protection device that monitors current through electromagnetic oder thermal mechanisms. Ⅲ. Do Homes Have Circuit Breakers or Fuses?

In modern home electrical systems, homeowners typically use circuit breakers to protect circuits. You can find these breakers in your home’s distribution box, where they monitor the current and automatically cut off power in case of a fault. Older homes may still use Sicherungen, especially in some vintage electrical systems.

Both fuses and circuit breakers are essential components for home electrical safety. The choice between them depends on specific power needs and scenarios.
